Intro to Illustrator

Whether you have never opened Illustrator before or you haven’t seen its interface in a long time, this class is a great introduction to the program. This workshop will familiarize you with the different tools that you can later use to create anything from logos, to flyers, to convert rasters into vectors and so on.

Sandra manages the Innovation Co-Lab roots program as well as teaches several workshops. She has a background in web design and front-end development, as well as a passion for artistic endeavors regardless of the medium.

Outline

  • Create a document
  • Get to know basic shapes and general tools
  • Explore properties (including alignment and color)
  • Create components
  • Get familiar with the layer system
  • Learn how to import and vectorize raster images
  • Save and export a document

  • Know what most tools do and where to find them
  • Feel comfortable adding and modifying elements
