Fall 2025 Roots Program
The start of a new semester brings fresh possibilities, and we're excited to unveil our Fall 2025 Roots program lineup—a dynamic collection of hands-on workshops spanning a variety of themes and skills.
AI takes center stage this fall with a range of workshops designed to demystify and democratize artificial intelligence. From "Critical Play with Generative AI: Co-Intelligence" to "Multi-Agent AI," students can explore how AI is reshaping creative and technical landscapes. We're particularly excited about unique offerings like "If NPC's Had Minds of their Own," which imagines what happens when game characters gain agency, and "AI for Programmers," which explores how developers can harness AI as a collaborative tool. For those looking to dive deeper into practical applications, our computer vision series takes you from reading documents to training neural networks—skills that are increasingly valuable across disciplines and accessible to a variety of experience levels.
This semester's maker-focused workshops showcase the Co-Lab's commitment to hands-on creativity and technical skill-building. Our comprehensive Raspberry Pi Hack Lab series returns with an expanded progression that teaches your Pi to hear, feel, move, see, and think, essentially building a complete sensory system over multiple workshops. Creative makers can explore classes focused around the Co-Lab Studios' tools - everything from personalizing tumblers and creating stained glass on the waterjet to building custom macropads and laser-cutting rubber stamps.
Security enthusiasts will appreciate workshops like "Don't Get Hacked: Security Essentials for Web Developers" and the provocatively named "Hacking the Juice Shop," while those seeking foundational skills can choose from multiple instances of popular classes like "First 3D Print" and "Slither Your Way Into Python." The variety ensures that whether you're taking your first steps into programming or ready to build a computer from scratch, there's a pathway that meets you where you are.
Each workshop is designed to be accessible to beginners while providing depth for those ready to dig deeper. Most importantly, every session emphasizes learning by doing—because at the Co-Lab, we believe the best way to understand technology is to get your hands on it and start building.
And don't sleep on our asynchronous course offerings as well! Lots of self-paced options are available anytime via Pathways.
